The length of your downrod depends on the height of your ceiling. If you have a regular sized bedroom of 144 to 225 square feet then a medium ceiling fan with a blade span of 44 to 50 inches will be a great fit. For an 11 foot ceiling we recommend an 18 inch downrod and this will have your blades 8 feet off the ground. Measure the height of your ceiling to determine the mounting option that ll work best for your space.

Ceiling fans with a standard mount are designed for rooms where the ceiling height is around nine feet. A ceiling fan downrod connects the ceiling fan body to the mounting hardware on your ceiling to ensure secure efficient and wobble free performance. The use of a ceiling fan downrod during installation ensures the appropriate hanging height of eight to nine feet from the floor. This downrod a 12 inch downrod is perfect for a 10 foot ceiling.

For example if your ceiling is 12 feet high and your ceiling fan is 12 inches in height you will need a 24 inch downrod to mount the ceiling fan between eight and nine feet above the floor. A ceiling up to 9 feet high requires a standard 3 inch drop rod. The ideal fan height from floor to fan blades is approximately 8 feet.
