From what i see and if i understand what i see it seems to have some batt insulation pink fiberglass batts maybe.

You can do a quick and easy install with a lot of insulation contact that may muffle higher pitches but preserve a good bass response.
However there may be impacts on the sound quality of the speaker depending on how much contact there is.

Above the room is the attic to which i have access.
In ceiling speakers attic insulation planning on installing 4 in ceiling speakers for an atmos setup.
Add a couple of boards between the main rafters one one each side of the speaker and fill the box created by the rafters and added board with poly or fiberglass insulation.
Not sure what is the better place for it.

In ceiling speakers can come in contact with insulation because the insulation is fireproof by design.
They will fit a much larger speaker than my 9 speakers so they are rather universal.
Get it as soon as sat sep 19.

You may even take it one step farther and cut a board to seal the top of the box.
Like others i ended up sealing not ceiling these to the sheetrock with silicon sealer to keep the insulation dust debris out.
These worked well enough to protect the in ceiling speakers that we installed in our media room.
