Chevy Truck Door Wont Open From Inside Or Outside

Now it will not open from the inside pulling on the rod behind the panel or from the outside door handle.

Im unable to take the door panel off with the door shut. Door would still not open. I am in process of fixing it when the door shut. I busted the outer door handle and was able to inspect the door latch.

However when it is in the unlocked position i still cannot open my drivers door from the inside or the outside. The lock on my door still goes up and down as if it can be locked and unlocked. Roll the window down and carefully push the door panel away at the top right above the latch rear of door then look down inside the door at the latch and figure out which rod fell of the latch. Are there any tricks to open the door so i can finish my repair.

Hey guys my drivers side door will not open from the outside as well as inside. The drivers inside handle broke. It feels as if there is nothing there or no tension on anything. I gave it a good tug and the handle came off the door in my hand leaving the rest of the handle mechanism on the door. I climbed in the right side door and the door opened correctly from the inside. All linkage is in. I have a 1997 chevy 1500 with power windows and door locks. These parts run between the key tumbler the door lock button the lock mechanism the interior and exterior door handles and the release mechanism for the latch.

I used the key to manually lock and unlock the door no success. Got out and door would not open from outside. You can take a long screw driver of piece of drill rod and manipulate the lever that opens the latch to get the door open and make repairs as needed from there.
